I used to have antique plates on my cars. Then they raised the prices of them. It went from being something like $5 extra to over $50 extra, each.

In Virginia it’s a one-time $50 fee. For my other cars it’s $40 per year, and an additional $10 for my custom plate. The only drawback to the antique plate, which I’m sure is true for every state that has them, is that I have limited use. I can’t drive it on my everyday tasks, but I can drive it to car shows and such, and there is a loophole for “occasional pleasure driving not to exceed 250 miles from home”. So I guess when I decide to take it for a spin around the back roads I’ll just always carry my DSLR in the passenger’s seat.
